Built for the high speed stability requirements of European roads the Pirelli Scorpion STR is a premium Highway, All Season tire specifically designed to offer Stability, Traction and Ratings(STR) to Light trucks, SUV's Crossovers and light pick up trucks. The Scorpion STR offers a combination of on road drive feel and confidence with a certain degree of off road capability, through out the year from summer to winter.

The Scorpion STR is an all season tire and as such engineers and Pirelli have used a tread compound with a combination of Silica and natural rubber that retains flexibility on hot summer roads as well as near freezing winter conditions to allow the driver to experience the full traction abilities of the tread pattern through the year.

This tread compound is molded into a symmetric pattern that varies from the pattern of the tires that are meant for the North American driver, the Scorpion STR A, but has a mix of features focused on a resistance to hydroplaning, traction, high mileage, even tread wear and a silent comfortable drive on and off the road, rain or shine. The Scorpion STR has wider grooves and lateral grooves that run through the shoulder ribs, both features that help this tire perform exceptionally well on wet roads and prevent hydroplaning. These features are not present in the Scorpion STR A as that tire is adapted for the North American market and offer a more silent drive.

The Scorpion STR has a central circumferential rib in its tread that works in conjunction with its shoulder tread blocks and intermediate tread blocks to maintain road contact for responsive steering, acceleration and breaking when the road is dry. Distinctive inclined tread blocks improve traction on and off the road so that you are able to load up your SUV and explore the great outdoors to a certain extent. The network of lateral and longitudinal grooves allow the evacuate water away from under the tread helping the vehicle retain road contact for safe traction and confident handling in inclement weather without hydroplaning. Multiple sipes on the road allow these tires to grip tenaciously to slightly snow covered winter roads .

Like any all weather tire the Scorpion STR should not be used during winter in areas where severe winter weather makes it necessary to use snow/winter tires for their added winter time traction.
